SNOW DAY

The horses look quite a bit shorter, don't you think?

As you can see, we are not getting out of our driveway anytime soon!

Mohair / Shetland

I finished it! - I think it turned out very nice. I only have 3oz more of this combination.

Now I am blending a silver grey Shetland from one of our lambs and some kid mohair from our angora goat. The fibre on the left is the Mohair and the fibre on the right is the Shetland.

I am blending these fibres together with my hand carders at about a 60% Shetland to 40%mohair ratio. As you can see in the right photo, this is spinning out very smooth.

It's turning into a beautiful silver yarn - but still - I am tempted to dye this combo. I'd eventually like to knit or crochet it into a shall of some type. I've segregated out only 6oz of Shetland for this project, no worries on the amount of mohair-have plenty, so, I'll see how far I get. I may just have to increase the amount for this project. I guess I'll see how much yardage this gets me.

Winter Holiday Spinning

Here I go, this is 60% Shetland, 40% Mohair. It runs through my fingers like butter - I love spinning.

I've been quite busy this winter break: These 2 skiens i spun this week are from my shetlands. they turned out better that I had hoped. I'm just going to keep spinning and spinning until classes start back up on Jan. 14th. I hope I complete the shetland/mohair fleece i'm working on.

Fingerless Mit

This is my first attempt at a Fingerless Mitt. I think I did a decent job. You would never guess that I spun this yarn from my dog Sammie, a Great Pyrenees. - This mit is very soft and fluffy, just like Sammie.

Smoke and Medichi

We've had a few rough days. The animals are hanging in there.

Oh my goodness, he is huge; just over 16hh!!! Medichi is only 15hh - this should be fun :) I can't wait to go riding. I think our farm is finally complete. 3 kids, 2 horses, 3 dogs, a rabbit, and a lot of Shetland Sheep :) My goal has been reached. - it's a beautiful thing!!!!!!!
