It's Cold.
Due to the increasing cold weather, and lack of job, I have picked up my knitting once again. The brown sweater I was working on quite a while ago is what I have picked up right where I stopped. I will post pics soon.
Mac is growing his winter coat and is mighty frisky in the pasture (trotting / cantering back and forth). I can't decide if he does this because he is really bored or is enjoying the cold weather. I don't think I will ever know.
I don't like the cold. I am quite happy when it's above 40 degrees F. and little wind. . .

Update on the horses!
Well, I have made a decision that was not easy to make. Mac is staying with me and MiaKoda will be sold. Koda is a great horse, very well trained, and full of spirit, athleticism, and curiosity. He is a great all-around kind of horse.
Unfortunately with what the near future holds I will not and do not have the time for 2 horses. Yes, this makes me sad. He was born here only 5 years ago, but I know this is best for him.
Ok boys n girls - Here he is! The horse you've been waiting for!!! MiaKoda is for sale! 5 year old all-around ranch horse! - I've team-penned him, turned back cattle for cutters with him, trail road him (roads and at parks). He would be great at cattle work, speed events or meandering down the trail. I also think, with his seemingly never-ending endurance he may make a nice competitive trail horse. He's great for the farrier and goes right into the trailer. He is the first one at the gate to come out and play with you. This boy was born on my property on July 11, 2008. He was trained by a professional cutting horse trainer (4 months last year and 1 month this year). 14.3hh; 5 years old; try-colored paint (Can be registered Pinto).Current Cogging and UTD on all shots (including rabies) Please PM me if you have any questions. I do have more pictures (since birth) and I have plenty of Video of him working as well. We are relocating across country and I would like to find a good, safe home for Koda; he is a special little guy!2500 OBO
Up to Speed. . .
I apologize for not updating more often. We have been quite busy with the farm and work, etc. . .
Home:
Our farm is still up for sale - we are hoping to be sold before the snow hits the ground for numerous reasons - one being I have yet to acquire hay for the horses! I am looking for hay just in case. So if anyone has some cheep grassy hay please let me know.
Kids:
The kids are doing great. Jon will be returning from his internship and returning to classes in about a week. Michael is still at the Air force Base working his behind off. And Kaila may be starting college down there in Alabama this fall. So, all-in-all, the family is healthy and thriving.
Job Hunts:
Philip and I are doing great, we are taking this transition one day at a time. . . kinda. . . (lol).
Still no word on where we are relocating to, but god willing we will know soon enough.
The path of job hunting and interviewing have been taxing on both of us because they are spread throughout the US.
We are hanging on for the ride!
We will keep posting on this journey.

Snippit Bag and Wallet
Well, today has been quite productive. Aside from an interview this afternoon, I have finished my Snippit Bag and made a wallet.
I purchased this Snippit Bag kit in Galena a few years ago (ok, many years ago) while on an outing with my mother-in-law. She made hers up straight away - I did not. I came across the kit while organizing/cleaning and thought, "Why not, I'm embroidering and have snips of scrap Everywhere!"
When I get my hand on some sand the small bag on the table will be filled (acting as a counter-weight for the bag) and function as a needle cushion. The bag portion is to keep my scraps and strings out of my couch, off the floor, and off the table! Brilliant!
I found this beautiful Horse fabric at Uniquely Yours Quilt Shop in Orangeville, IL last week - I just had to make something. . or a few things. This little wallet is perfect. (I'm working on a purse to match)
The piecing was super easy, quick and fun.
On my next one I will discover a better way to deal with the outside edges. I may use quilt binding but I fear the edges would turn out too bulky. Trial and Error - that is the name of the game.

Hibernating in Good Spirits: Laptop Cover ScrapQuilt
Here it is, almost the end of January 2013, and I'm hibernating along with the horses.
In the grand scheme of things I am holding out for a wonderful career opportunity to make things better for others in this crazy world of ours.
In the meantime, I quilt, cross stitch, and embroider!
This is my hard-cover, zip-up, table-like cover. FINISHED!!!
I researched how to make a laptop book-like cover and found instructions to be a bit confusing. So, I measured my laptop and jumped right in. It turned out to be 'making-it-up' as I go kind-of project. These, I have found, are the best!
I began with muslin and scrap quilting, hardboard, and a prayer - this is what developed.
I would have added more embroidery but, my fingers hurt and I have plans for other projects! :) Onward and Upward!

Saying Farewell to 2012
Well, It has been quite some time since I had a few moments to post. . . so here it goes:
2012 Was a GOOD year!
I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree this past December.
My eldest daughter is doing well in the south.
My eldest son is doing great at Northwestern University (he's just finishing up his 2nd year).
My youngest son has graduated from tech school in the United States Air Force and has just received his first station - he will be leaving for England within the month.
My husband continues to be the glue and support for all in the family.
Our horses are doing great, unfortunately they are hibernating at the moment awaiting warmer weather so we can play.
The dogs are healthy and doing well. They have taken to the barn life quite well.
2012 will remain an important year for many of us - but now, we must Carry On and Make 2013 even BETTER!!!!!!
